We were approached by a leasing company to see if we could livery 29 Transit Connects for a new contract they had with a new customer at short notice. The customer had placed the order but the vehicles needed delivering within 5 days.
Whilst it wouldn’t normally be an issue, because it was a new customer to us and the lease company, we had no artwork for the vehicles so had to develop this from scratch to match the other vehicles in their fleet.
Our designers worked from photographs of existing vehicles to exactly replicate this onto the new ones.
When we’d done this, we needed a quick approval from the client so drove the vehicle across to their head office, rather than sending a visual or a photograph, to ensure they were happy with the finished product. Fortunately, they were so we quickly got to work making the kits, but by this time it was Tuesday evening and the job had to be done for delivery to the customer on Saturday morning.
Time was against us so we had to produce the kits in batches. Once the first batch was completed, the fitters took them to site to get started, whilst the other kits were still in production. Further batches were taken to site when they were ready.
Production finally finished early on the Friday afternoon. Our fitting teams pulled out all of the stops, and managed to livery all 29 vans by end of business on the Friday evening, for delivery to the customer on the Saturday.
